The first thing that goes into increasing blog traffic is understanding your audience. Think about who is reading your blog and why they should come to you over another blog. You should know what questions or problems they have and how your blog posts can solve those issues. Consider how old your ideal reader is, their gender, occupation, and their other interests. Then, you can write posts in a way that will encourage readers to come back for new content. Someone needs to visit your blog and think “this is just what I need.”
Once you know a bit about your ideal reader and your blog’s niche, you can start to do keyword research. Keywords are words or phrases that you add to your blog posts to optimise them for search engines. Use a keyword planning tool, like the Google Keyword Planner, to help find relevant keywords. See how much traffic those keywords get per month and how competitive they are. Then, you can select keywords that get decent search traffic but have low to medium competition. That will give you the best chance at ranking highly and increasing blog traffic.
After you come up with some keywords, turn them into blog post titles. Your titles should be explanatory and catchy to encourage people to click on the post.
A few ways to structure your blog posts titles include:
Put yourself in the shoes of your ideal reader and think about their problems. Then, you can create titles and blog posts that will attract the right people to your blog. Then, you’ll enjoy the benefits of blog traffic, and you don’t have to work that hard to get visitors.
Using photos or graphics in your blog posts can be a great way to break up the text. You can use images for a tutorial post or when writing a review of a product. If you don’t want to take pictures, you can also design graphics or take screenshots. Include them throughout the content to keep people engaged. You can also use images to help encourage increased blog traffic. Most platforms let you add alt text to your images, so you can use the keyword of the post, and your photo might show up in image search results.
Another critical way to increase content marketing traffic is to blog regularly. You don’t need to post every week, but you should create and follow a blogging schedule. If you only have time to post once per month, that’s fine, but make sure you stick to it. When you have more time, you can write and schedule posts for later. That way, you’ll be able to post content at regular intervals. Over time, you’ll build up a library of content, so people can click from one post to the next. You can also give your readers an idea of when they can expect new content from you. Then, you may see spikes in visits when you share a new post on schedule.
Evergreen content is a type of content that will remain relevant long after you publish it. For example, a guide on how to increase blog traffic will always attract readers. However, a blog post about summer activities or holiday gift ideas will be short-lived. After the season passes, people won’t care about the content. While you can use seasonal posts occasionally, make more of your content evergreen. Then, you’ll be able to get more traffic throughout the year, and your content will help your readers no matter what time it is.
Once you’ve written a few blog posts, you should link to them in your future posts. Assuming your blog falls within one niche or industry, your blog posts should relate to each other. If you already have a post on productivity tips, you may write a post on how to work from home. Then, you can link to the productivity post when you write about how to work remotely. Readers can click on those links to read more, which will increase blog page views organically. Those links will also help search engines learn about your site, so you might see your blog rank higher.
You can collaborate with other bloggers and website owners to help increase blog traffic. If you need help creating content, you can look for people who are willing to write a guest post. Once their post goes live, they might choose to promote it on their blog or their social media accounts. When their followers click, they’ll go to your blog, increasing blog traffic for you. If you want to write more, you can also write a guest blog for someone else. They’ll usually let you link to your blog, so their readers can click to your site if they like your writing style.
One of the easiest options for how to increase blog traffic is to share your posts on social media. You probably already have a following of people in your personal life. But you might have followers on a business page that you can promote posts to. Consider sharing your blog posts on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. You can use hashtags to help people find your content. Share your blog in relevant Facebook groups, or add your latest post to the link in your bio on Instagram.
If you’ve been blogging for a few months, you probably have a big archive of blog posts. When posting on social media, share recent and older blog posts to help get traffic. Then, you won’t annoy your audience by sharing the same post all week. Instead, you can provide variety, and some of your followers may have missed one of your older posts. Incorporate older blog posts into your social media marketing strategy each week. Share your post from that week and find a few posts from months ago that are still relevant and useful. You can then encourage readers to share your new and old content with their friends and followers. If someone likes your post, they’ll want to share it, which is a great way for you to get more blog traffic.
If you want to seriously increase blog traffic, you need to use Pinterest. The platform is one of the only places where users go to find blogs and ideas. Unlike other platforms, Pinterest doesn’t try to keep people from navigating to another website. You can create graphics for your blog posts, and you can share them to your Pinterest boards. Other users can find the pins through your boards or the Pinterest algorithm. Then, they can click on the pin and visit your blog, or they can save the pin for later. Experiment with different graphics to see which designs get the most traffic. Use those designs to inspire future graphics to keep increasing blog traffic.
Email marketing is another excellent way to get more blog traffic. You can add a subscription form to your blog to encourage people to sign up for your newsletter. Each week or month, send your list an email with a list of your recent blog posts. Include links to those posts so that readers can find them quickly and easily. You can also use your email list to provide updates on your blog or business. When you’re ready to promote a product or service, you’ll have a list of fans ready to buy from you. With an email list, you don’t have to worry about mastering the algorithm of a social media network. As long as you don’t go into spam, your subscribers will see your email.
Increasing blog traffic is great, but you need to know how to maintain it. Check your analytics at least once a month to learn about your blog and who is reading it. You can learn which posts are getting the most views, which can help you come up with more post ideas. That way, you can write posts that you know your audience will love. Analytics can also tell you how readers are finding your blog, such as social media or search engines. Use that information to decide how to promote your blog.
You can create short videos that are informative and entertaining to the user, one of the reasons you should do this is because Google owns Youtube which is good for you as Google really likes video content. This is because what usually comes with high quality Youtube videos are plenty of backlinks to that video and, an improvement to the users active time on a website which are 2 major factors that Google takes into consideration when ranking your website.
If you are able to identify what social media platform your audience spend the most of their time on, you can invest money into those social media platforms to promote your blogs, an example of a platform you can do this on is Facebook which provide the option to “Boost” a posts which will increase that boosted posts reach, meaning a lot more people will see that post about the article.
This will not only increase the traffic to your blog but, it will also increase interactivity with your blogs, the reason creating giveaways increases traffic to your blog is because if people have the chance of winning something for just leaving a reply or just reading a blog, more often than not, people will read that blog if it gives them the chance of winning something. This will then keep people coming back if people know there is a giveaway.
Increasing blog traffic can be hard, but you can experiment with plenty of strategies to find what works. From choosing the right keywords and titles to promoting your posts, consider how you can gain readers. And make sure to do what works for your blog so that you can make the most of your time. That way, you’ll be able to keep increasing blog traffic well into the future.
