Rowing clubs responsive website design
Peterborough City Rowing Club, established in 1948 in Thorpe Meadows, offers an inclusive environment for rowers of all ages and skill levels. The club participates in local, national, and international competitions and hosts events like the Spring Regatta and Junior Championships. Its facilities include a 1000m rowing lake and extensive training rivers. With a rich history and growth supported by lottery grants, the club is currently expanding its boathouse to accommodate an increasing membership
The website redevelopment aimed to enhance event information for current members, attract new members through the ‘Learn to Row’ programme, and promote third-party use of the facilities.
To achieve this, the design was streamlined with clearly defined sections and effective user signposting for seamless navigation. Flexibility in the layout allows for easy updates to highlight specific areas. Bold colours and engaging imagery showcased the sport’s fun and sociable aspects, while strategically placed call-to-action buttons provided quick access to important sections, guiding visitors through their browsing experience smoothly.
Built on the WordPress platform, the website provides Peterborough City Rowing Club with easy access to an administration area, enabling them to make updates and changes as needed. This is particularly effective for the events section, which promotes upcoming events and allows for downloadable results after they conclude. This streamlined approach minimises unnecessary data downloads, resulting in a faster-loading website. The site is now 46% quicker on mobile devices compared to the previous version, enhancing overall navigation speed and user experience.
